One Accord

The words “one accord” are a direct result of those who say that they are commandments keepers and hold precious the first commandment.

Exodus 20:1-3, And God spoke all these words saying, “I am the Lord thy God, Which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, and out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other god’s before Me.”

God’s commands, speaking of the ten, are vertical as well as horizontal. The first four point straight heavenward, where God resides, and commands 5-10 are horizontal, going out to our friends, family and neighbors. Taken together they form the very purpose in renewing our spiritual mind, Romans 12:2.

Matthew 22:37,Jesus said unto him, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38, And the second is like unto it, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.”

All of God’s commands are important but the four that are vertical have no use to our friends and neighbors. They only know the god of this world not the God Whose purpose is to fill those He has rescued from the world or Egyptian bondage with his Divine will.

2nd Corinthians 4:4, “In whome the god of this world has blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the glorious gospel of Christ, Who is in the image of God, should shine unto them.”

The best we could muster, before conversion, to our friends and family is those thoughts which we gained from the god of this world, that is the true meaning of ones opinion, meaning how and what we think with our natural minds. The scriptures tell us that we need to elevate our way of thinking.

Isaiah 55:8, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts and My ways are not your ways” saith the lord. 9, “For as the heavens are higher that the earth, so are My ways higher that your ways, and My thoughts higher than your thoughts.

The Mind of Christ

Because God’s ways and thoughts are so much higher than our natural ways and thoughts, we need a new spirit. This Spirit is holy which is made available to those who are believers in God’s only accepted offering, Jesus who became God’s anointed “Christ”. Without God’s Spirit, our natural mind is void of Godly thoughts and actions.

Having the mind of Christ means that we understand God’s plan in the world to bring glory to Himself, to restore the creation to its original splender, and to provide salvation to sinful mankind.

Luke 19:10, “For the son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

Jesus speaks of the lost tribes of Israel, Matthew 15:24.

We were probably of one of the tribes of Israel because we were once lost and going in whatsoever direction life would take us. We, because of God’s Holy Spirit, foremost, Who guides us into all truth, teaches us all truth, John 14:26; Luke 12:12; 1st John 2:27.

This teaching by the Holy Spirit is one teacher and one source for God’s truth and the mind of Christ.

The Holy Spirit Has One Teaching For Everyone

Matthew 18:19, “Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of My Father Which is in heaven.”

Oneness or one accord is the will of God. If that oneness doesn’t exist at the present time, it should be the goal of every believer. It is the first and foremost commandment of every one who believes in the gospel. It is our hearts desire, Psalms 37:4.

Romans 15:5, “Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another. 6, That ye with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

We need to be a willing individual to allow the Holy Spirit to instill His teaching within us and to be a body of people who He would allow to be His Ambassadors, and those who would be allowed to speak for our Father as representatives of the Kingdom of God.

Acts 4:24, And when they had heard that, they lifted up their voices to God with one accord, and said, “Lord thou art God, Which hast made heaven and earth, and the sea, and all that is in them.”

It doesn’t take days, months, or years to be in one accord with others because it is a heart and attitude issue. We were once like some family and neighbors without hope, but now, because God saw our situation in the world or in the land of Egypt, had mercy on us and caused His light to shine upon us.

Acts 2:1, And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all in one accord and in one place.

Christ was with His disciples for 40 days and then ascended into the heavens into the clouds. His disciples remained in Jerusalem for 10 additional days together in an upper room. They prayed for unity and singleness of mind gained by the Holy Spirit. Before Jesus crucifixion and ascension to His Father, the disciples had only the use of their natural minds and didn’t have very much unity, See Matthew 18:1-3 and Mark 10:35-45.

The Holy Spirit wasn’t available to the disciples before Jesus crucifixion and ascension. It was the Holy Spirit as a teacher Who developed the unity and one accord we read about in the scriptures. Only through the Holy Spirit will unity, singleness of mind and the heavenly Jerusalem be achieved.

We need to keep in mind that the Jerusalem that is mentioned by Jesus Christ is the New Jerusalem we read about in Revelation 21:2. The bride which comes down from heaven is the New Jerusalem and is a suitable companion and is of one accord with her Husband Christ.

Is this not Jesus Christ who said in Matthew 16:18, that it is He Who builds His church by and through His Spirit? 1st Corinthians 15:45.
