God’s Sabbath
During Jesus ministry, there were many who erred in knowing the Scriptures so He would ask the question, “have ye not read?” Matthew 12:5, 19:4; Mark 2:25, 12:26. His instructions were also not to add or take away any intent or meaning of the scriptures, Deuteronomy 4:2, 12:32; Revelation 22:18-19.
There has always been a contention between believers whether God’s Sabbath was on a Saturday or was it changed to a Sunday? To make this subject even more difficult, the Apostle Peter states that a day with God is as a thousand years and a thousand years as a day.
2nd Peter 3:8, But beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day with the Lord is as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day.
We certainly don’t want to be ignorant, do we? And we would like to read the scriptures without taking away or adding any of our own additional words to the scriptures.
God’s Sabbath Has no Evening or Darkness Associated With it.
Genesis chapter one tells us of everything God has created for man’s needs in six days, and His conclusion is as follows:
Genesis 1:31, And God saw that everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good. And the evening and morning were the sixth day.
On God’s seventh day, scriptures tell us that God ended His work, rested, blessed and sanctified the seventh day, Genesis 2:2-3. We do not read of the seventh day starting with an evening like the six days of creation which started with an evening and morning. Although the sun was created on the fourth day, we read no evening or morning associated with the seventh day. God’s Sabbath Day is different because it’s light comes directly from God, who is Spirit, John 4:24, not the sun. We see in Genesis chapter 2 a type, and in the Book of Revelation, its reality and counterpart fulfilled.
Revelation 21:23, And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it, for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
The Saturday sabbath worshipers begin with the setting of the sun and the Sunday worshipers begin their sabbath at midnight. These time periods are not scriptural. This is one of the deceptions Christ warned His disciples about, Matthew 24:4; Mark 13:6;Luke 21:8; 2nd Corinthians 11:3. This misreading of the scriptures has been from the very beginning. Notice what had happened when Jesus Christ, God’s anointed, was put to death on the cross.
Mark 15:33, And when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.
Darkness prevails when God or Christ’s presence is not involved in any event. When sin had entered into the Garden of Eden, because of the rejection of the Tree of Life, authority was given to Satan, the god of this world. What was the result?
2nd Corinthians 4:4, In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the glorious gospel of Christ, Who, is in the image of God, should shine unto them.
Notice it was their minds that was darkened. To have our minds darkened is to be void of the knowledge of God and without His presence. The world and mans teaching will be accepted satisfying the carnal mind with its thought process, but those in darkness, is a type of blindness to the leading and the foolishness said by worldly people, of the teaching of God, 1st Corinthians 2:14. John chapter 9; See also Isaiah 55:8.
Isaiah 60:1-2, Arise, for thy light had come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon thee. 2, For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall rise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.
We Are of The Day
The Apostle Paul says in 1st Thessalonians 5:5 that we are all children of light.
1st Thessalonians 5:5, “But ye , brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. 5, We are all children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night or of darkness.”
I Am, the Light of the World
John 8;12, Then spake Jesus again unto them, “I am the light of the world: He that followeth Me shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life.”
The Apostle Paul told Timothy 2:15 to study, to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needed not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
What is our Work Today?
Many people believe that we should rest from our menial tasks, resting from our daily duties as one should do as to the providing for our family. That is not what Jesus was referring to or said in the book of John, 6:27:
John 6:27, “Labour not for the meat that perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for Him, hath God the Father sealed.”
The Son of man is Jesus Christ who said to those who were to be His disciples; “Come unto Me and all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest,” Matthew 11:28. They were to become His disciples because they were willing to expose themselves to the Light, and have a change from a once darkened mind to a peaceful transition to the mind of God. This rest Jesus spoke about is associated primarily with our minds, not our body. It is our piece of mind, taking away our anxieties, educating us, learning the knowledge of whats right from what’s wrong, and the most important part, the changing of lords, from Satan who is the God of this world, to Jesus Christ, who has overcome the world and its power.
Matthew 28:18, And Jesus came unto them and spake unto them, saying ” All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth.
As we have a renewing of our mind in and through Him we will be able to follow His example.
2nd Colossians 2:10, And ye are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality and power.
God hates Our sabbaths and Our Feast Days.
In the day of Jesus’s ministry, we find that God’s Sabbaths and feast days had become the feasts of the Jews, John 5:1, 2:13, 6:4, 11:55. The book of Isaiah says that God hates our feasts days, 1:14. The Book of Amos says the same thing, Amos 5:21. The book of Hosea continues with God’s displeasure with our sabbaths and our feasts, Hosea 2:11. Many people who God calls, think He is referring to the secular world with its Christmas and Easter observant holidays but He is not. The uncalled people are still in a darkened world and we, like the Apostle Paul who are called are in His light, Acts 9:3. We should know the difference.
Baptized into the Name of the Father, and the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
We who were baptized into Christ are in His light, He is our Daystar, 2nd Peter 1:19. Our calling was not forced upon us. We voluntarily accepted God’s calling and were baptized into the body of Christ, Galatians 3:27. Like the Apostle Paul, the scales of our eyes have been removed, Acts 9:18, and we have had the blindness of our minds, caused by Satan to all men since the Garden of Eden removed, little by little. If we are in Christ, and whether its sunny or dark outside in the world, we are always in the light, 24/7, because Christ is our Sabbath.
